Tradition and Music

Seeing as the Christmas period has just finished I thought I would talk about tradition. The music part can come later. With tradition, it has always been instilled in me from my parents for as long as I can remember and I think will live on throughout me to my children. Depending on what they chose to do. It is also linked with my patriotism too. Especially when it comes down to football and Royal events. You should see the outside of my house during a World Cup or European Championship.

So back to tradition, my family have quite a few traditions and its normally during Christmas time. This year however, I sort of broke them, not to the extent that its a major catastrophe but things that I realised I dont want to break again for some strange reason. The first one was not wearing a suit to the pub on Christmas morning, now thats not a big thing, but its what I've done and what my dad and grandad have always done. Although my brother Andy really didnt follow tradition and turned up in his lion onesie. He did get a good reception from the crowd in the pub though and it was a good laugh. I just put on a shirt and tie but with a pair of chinos and my Christmas jumper. So, I wasnt out of place too much.

The second thing is that I didnt watch the Queen's speech before the starter on my Christmas meal, again not a big thing but something my family have done for years. Still there is a first for everything I suppose. I dont know it just felt different for me not doing those things this Christmas. See I think I'm a traditional person too, in the sense that I want a traditional family of husband and wife and two kids (a nuclear family to those people who study/studied Sociology) and a good job. Probably a load of rubbish to most people now times have changed and things are done differently but thats what I want.

Now to the music part. I do believe I have found my favourite genre of music finally. Before, I liked most types of music and mainly mainstream chart music. I still like that music but Ive found one that I love. Dubstep. This is my favourite type of music, I cant get enough of it now. Im always listening to it. Some people may argue that it isnt music and just nonsense but then again times change and music changes. This is probably contradictory to my previous statement about being traditional, but i see it this way, I also have to adapt to change and thats the thing with younger people. We adapt to change a lot easier than older generations, you see it everyday with the new technologies out and older people dont adapt to them as easily as younger people do.

Anyway I'm done now for the night. Hope you enjoyed being nosy. Speak again soon
Jim
