Ok, So here it is, the first "themed" blog. It was originally going to be just Fact Friday but the Harlow Hawks Radio station had an interesting theme to their local football round up that week about football facts so I thought I would basically copy their theme. So here goes, here's a few 'interesting' facts about football. Old and new-ish.
The first premier league hattrick was scored by Eric Cantona on the 25th August 1992 for Leeds United against Tottenham.
The person with the most hattricks in the premier league is Alan Shearer with 11 hattricks. As well as being the premier league's top goal scorer so far with 260 goals.
Emile Heskey is 17th on that list of all time top scorers. Beating players such as Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Dennis Bergkamp and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Thierry Henry is the player with the most goals for one club in the premier league. He scored 176 goals for Arsenal.
Ryan Giggs is the player with the all time premier league assists with 126.
The youngest goalscorer in the premier league is James Vaughan aged 16 years and 267 days on the 10th April 2005. James Milner is second on this list.
Teddy Sheringham is the oldest player to score in the premier league aged 40 years and 264 days, over two years older than second placed Stuart Pearce aged 38 and 211 days.
There are 7 players who have scored for 6 different premier league clubs. Those are Marcus Bent, Peter Crouch, Nick Barmby, Les Ferdinand, Craig Bellamy, Robbie Keane and Andy Cole.
Ryan Giggs may be the player with most appearances in the premier league (645), however, he doesnt have the most starts (548), that is David James has the most starts with 572.
Nolberto Solano is the player with the most times substituted with 132.
Lastly, there are 3 players with the most red cards. Those are Duncan Ferguson, Richard Dunne and Patrick Vieira, all with 8 red cards.
